Overall, good race. Not my best place but snot nearly as bad as last week. This course was super hard (at least for me). Lots of peanut-buttery mud, lots of elevation, a ton of off-camber sections and parts that you almost couldn't even run. I finished 18/24 on the day--again, not the best day out there.
One exciting note of the race was the start. I started 4th row (essentially the back) but after the second turn was in 2nd!! Let's just say that didn't last long. As soon as I was back on the bike Skerritt, Schmidt and all those guys blew past. Hey, at least I was there for a little tiny bit!

From there on out the race just went downhill. It was an incredibly hard course, my tires weren't hooking up and I was having a hard time finding lines. I wound up running a bunch of sections that others were riding and at the end of the race I was glad it was over. On the up side, I didn't crash on any of the pavement sections, I didn't get passed by Sue Butler and I finished. Overall, a successful way to end the season.
I've thought a lot about when I should end my season and while I'd like to take it all the way through Collegiate Nationals in mid-December my legs just don't have it any more. This race marked my 57th race in 44 weeks. While I know I'll probably look back and have wanted to compete at Nationals I know it would be just another time of where I was there riding but not really racing. In the end I have to remember that I had an incredibly successful year racing and I've gained invaluable experience. I believe that this experience far outweighs a mid-pack finish at Nationals.
