San Dimas: Glendora Mountian Time Trial--Disappointed

Today reminded me of one thing:  I need to work on time trialing.  I know I have the physical strength, now I need the mental component.  I went into this race with both a time and wattage goal, I didn't hit either.
a look at one of the switchbacks

I finished this race in 16:33, placing me 39th out of 93 and 1:27 off the leader's time.  I was really hoping for something about a minute faster which would have conveniently placed me well within the top 15, and in the points.  Simply, I didn't do it.  I caught my 30 second and 1 minute man so I thought I'd definitely ridden into one of those top spots.  Oh well, you do what you can, right?

Oh, and to cap all this off there's a nice little email sitting in my inbox when I get back.  I'm currently ranked 3rd in the Banana Belt series.  1st and 2nd won't be there this weekend and I could have easily taken the overall.  Well, 1 season goal evaporated, looks like I just need to focus on the other two.

  1. Easier there my man. In building up to any race, always going to ups and downs. You are going to be flying for Walla Walla. You got three weeks to build that TT up and I know you can do it.

  2. Don't fret, TT's are a fickle mistress. Tomorrow is a new day, hit it hard!

  3. Sometimes you win some and sometimes you end up walking away wanting. Go get you some of that win you want tomorrow.

  4. Eat Eat Eat.....gotta have the calories for the days effort. You got the legs, heart, and desire to do your best. Just do it.
